The Mind Behind 922
I am too. Those three words launch an idyllic journey through the sixties as a young child whose promise is interrupted, coinciding with the end of the decade. Inside the Story
What You’ll Carry From These Pages
Paul William Emaus introduces himself and takes readers back to his childhood in 1960s Grand Rapids, surrounded by family, music, and the cultural explosion of the era.
As a young Paul encounters the Beatles and the mysterious “Paul Is Dead” theory, questions about identity, death, and transformation begin taking root in his mind.
Paul begins looking beyond the music and into the deeper mysteries surrounding the Beatles, discovering strange clues that connect the band's mythology with his own increasingly complex understanding of himself.
Paul explores the changing world of the late 1960s as music, counterculture, communes, and newfound freedom begin shaping his childhood. His visit to the commune at Ken-O-Shea Park offers his first glimpse into a world that feels bigger and stranger than his own neighborhood.
