At the beginning of the thread 922 on Mystery Tramp, I referenced Hotel Number 9. It’s the result of the mashup of Revolution Number 9 and Hotel California. The reason I did that is because I found that Magical Mystery Tour’s LP and the Hotel California LP were both released on the date of John Lennon’s death, December 8th, 9 years apart in 1967 and 1976.
The Nine seemed relevant so, using Audacity I laid Revolution Number 9 on top of Hotel California and made a video of it. It’s probably the scariest thing I’ve ever heard. It was soon taken down by YouTube, so here is how to DIY it, so it’s not lost for eternity.
1. Use the full version of Revolution Number 9 with the speaking in front.
2. Using Audacity or an equivalent program, lay Hotel California directly on top of Revolution Number 9.
3. Although there is some amusing stuff earlier on, go to verse 3 of Hotel California.
4. Listen.
When you get to the line Stab It with their Steely Knives but they just can’t kill the Beast, John Lennon starts making his wounded sound in R#9
(Revolution Number 9).
It continues over the line Last Thing I Remember I was running for the Door, which is what John did upon being shot on December 8th, 1980, running to the Nightman’s office. When you get to the end of that line, turn the audio backwards. The wounded sound John Lennon makes goes right over what Hotel California says in reverse which is John Lennon by Himself.
Of course, R#9 is famous for what it says when you turn it around backwards when Number 9 is spoken, it says backwards Turn Me On Dead Man.
So, everyone who tries and hears it can be hereby turned on.
